The outer ring of the cam follower adopts roller bearings with thicker outer ring walls. Mostly used in heavy-duty situations. The outer diameter surface of the roller has cylindrical and arc shapes, which can be designed to match the raceway surface according to the use occasion. With this outer ring, the rollers can roll directly on the raceways and can withstand heavier loads and shock loads.

Cam follower mainly includes two categories according to different types of structure and on site application :

1,Yoke type track rollers

Yoke type track rollers are ready-to-fit needle and cylindrical roller bearings with a particularly thick-walled outer ring . In addition to high radial loads, they can also support axial loads which are due, for example, to slight misalignment defects, skewed running or brief contact running impacts.

Yoke type track rollers are available with and without axial guidance of the outer ring and in both sealed and open versions. The outside surface of the outer rings is crowned and corresponds in the majority of designs to the optimised profile. In these bearings, the Hertzian pressure, edge load under tilting and wear of the mating track are reduced and the operating life of the mating track is increased.

For Yoke type track rollers without an inner ring, rolling element raceways on the shaft or bolt must pass Hardening and grinding treatments, see the table below. Its surface hardness must be 670 HV + 170 HV And the hardening depth CHD or SHD must be large enough.

Yoke type track rollers are mounted on a shaft or stud and are used in cam gears, bed ways, conveying equipment, linear guidance systems etc.

2,Stud type track rollers

The design of the stud type track rollers corresponds to the yoke type track rollers

But instead of the inner ring, it is a heavy-duty bolt. The studs have fixed threads, and in most cases, hexagonal sleeves at both ends. It is also available with an eccentric bushing with a shrink fit. Due to the collar eccentricity, the outer surface of the outer ring can be adjusted to match the mating track on the adjacent structure.

The outer surface of the outer ring can also be arched optimally for a wide range of eccentric loads.
